As the first meadery in the Mahoning Valley, Woodland Cellars in Hubbard is devoted to offering you a first-class experience when you’re seeking that special bottle of wine or mead.
Owner Nate Wilson took a nontraditional route into the world of winemaking. As a high school science teacher, he became interested in the science behind wine. That curiosity sparked a passion in the wine culture and evolved into joining a club that made various types of alcoholic beverages. After making wine, beer and brandy, the club searched for their next experiment. Finding a 700-year-old recipe for mead, they made a small batch and the rest is history.
Using the freshest fruits and juices, along with locally sourced honey, each bottle of our wine and mead is handcrafted and produced to meet only the highest expectations.
And we bet you’re wondering where the name Woodland Cellars comes from? Good question. Before moving to our current location, our wines and mead were fashioned in the basement of a home on Woodland Avenue in Hubbard, Ohio. We think it’s only fitting to pay homage to our humble beginnings.
